57/365 Works of Art
An amazing structure on it's own, St. Patrick's cathedral is the epitome of a work of art! I couldn't help frame this with the sculpture of Atlas in the foreground. It's an interesting dichotomy between the old stone structure and the modern, smooth, metal sculpture (or so I was told!)
FYI - I took this photo while standing on the opposite side of the street of St. Patrick's cathedral standing behind the statue. I was kneeling on the sidewalk in order to frame the shot. You can see the whole statue in a few posts down under "scultures."

55/365 Frozen Treats
After the Shrek show we went to Applebees and I was sooooo good I got the steak off of the weight watchers menu but the kids and my husband went for the dessert! This was Adam's hot fudge sundae in a shooter glass. I didn't have any! and I made fun of my husband all night because the blondie sundae he ate had 1200 calories in it! I can't believe that the new Applebees menu has calories for everything it really makes you think twice when you order!

trying to catch up
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days life has been a little hectic and I just can't get everything I want to done. I am hoping that things will slow down in the next few days so I can get back to making comments on everyone's pics. I can't wait to see what you all have been up to - Candy

50/365 Shadows
I was just going around my house looking for something that would catch my eye (it's cold and dark out!) and I love my hall light- the shadows are so interesting to look at on the ceiling...so I did what anyone would do I laid on the floor on my back and took a picture of it! I love how dramatic it looks. Oh and now I also realize I need to replace a bulb :)
49/365 Clowns
This is a home made clown that my mom bought my oldest son Adam when he was a baby. I don't know why but both my husband and I refer to it as "scarey clown" probably because of the eyes...not sure but it still freaks us both out! This is hanging in the kids room on their closet door, hopefully keeping away the boogey man!

48/365 Cookery
So a chef I am certainly not. I seem to have put more creative energy into crafts than into cooking which is why I gladly handed over the reigns to the kitchen to my husband. However, since I've been dieting his good ol' greasy chicken just isn't cutting it so I've come to make a pretty mean salad. I like my food to be interesting so this is my American version to my grandmother's Syrian Taboule. It will take me the rest of the week to finish this bowl but I assure you I will finish every single bit! mmmmm
Ohh so the theme cookery - well I can cut veggies, boil water and make salad so that's all pictured here :)

47/365 Flags and Banners
This is an American Flag Afghan that I crocheted about 7 years ago. It is one of the very few blankets that I have kept and I really hope that I can pass it along to my kids. One little quirk in the pattern was that there are only 48 stars so I just don't let anyone look at it long enough to count! (Ron - there are 50 stars on the American Flag in case you needed to know in Australia.)
46/365 Folk Art
2 posts today so I can get caught up!! These are 3 candle sticks that I made while I was in college. I had to take a wood working class so these were all hand carved with hand tools the only power tool I remember using was to cut the hole in the center for the test tube (to hold the candle.) I gave these to my parents to put in their shore house but they have sooooo many nautical items they didn't like that they didn't get the attention they deserved and so they gave them back to me. I'm glad they did, anyway it's the closest thing that I felt met the folk art theme in my house :)

45/365 Shoes/Footwear
These are the newest addition to my shoe collection. My very first pair of bike racing shoes for spinning. These are special shoes that will allow me to secure into the spin bike for a more efficient ride (and take the pressure off my pinky toes!!) I just wish my hobbies weren't so expensive to upkeep - I'm going to have to get a part time job to help pay for all these goodies!

44/365 Earrings
These are a collection of earrings that I have purchased from a jeweler that comes to my work. I just love supporting local crafters and have come to love home made jewelry like these earrings. I shot this on the top of my jewelry box with my mirror up. The first shots came out really shaky then I caved and got the tripod out! I am going to start an intro to photography course in a couple weeks so hopefully I can start making sense out of some of the more advanced camera settings. (p.s I sometimes wish this camera wasn't so darn clear - I did dust before I took this shot!!)

43/365 One Hundred
Today was Adam's one hundredth day of school and he had to bring in a hundred of something meaningful to him into school.. Well Adam's middle name should be drama so Chris dug out 100 ticket stubs to shows, movies and events that we have gone to over the years. I found it hard to believe that my 6 year old went to all those shows but he did! granted there are 4 copies of the tickets for the 4 of us - but he has been to 10 Broadway shows already (I am in BIG trouble!! looks like his is following right after his father!)

42/365 Occupation
This is my husband Chris, he is an actor and today he was on "One life to Live." He played the foreman at the vineyard James Falco. In this scene he found the wallet of Jessica in the wreckage of her cottage and he gave it to Jared and Natalie at Vicki's mansion. The wallet leads them to discover that Jessica faked having a kid at the hospital. Ok so now you know all about soap operas :)

41/365 For Sale
I was walking the dog up my block the other day and was saddened to see all the for sale signs. There are 3 of them on our little block and I'm afraid that this is only going to get worse. Living so close to the city has it's many advantages but with the massive lay offs in NYC lately many commuters are leaving for other areas. I guess I could have also names this Recessionary Economics.

40/365 Two
The two tallest trees on the block - the large pine tree in my yard and the evil oak tree in my back neighbors yard. Ok, I love nature but that oak tree just kills me! the acorns pop against the house, and the branches hit my roof, the leaves take forever to clean up and it just always makes a mess. In the summer I have ONLY shade in my back yard which hurts my vegetable garden. I took this picture because we finally had some nice blue skies - then I realized I framed those two trees and I just went with it.

39/365 Vines
We finally had a nice day here so I was able to walk around my house to see how the house is holding up after all the snow and cold weather. Unfortunately, the ivy in the back seems to have thrived in this weather! The vines are out of control and in need of some desperate trimming :( This is the back corner of my property and that vine and I have had major issues since the very beginning. I have trimmed in back by at least 50% but it keeps coming back!!
On a much more positive note today is my dad's 70th birthday!! My sisters and I all went over to their house for dinner. My mom had some incredible food (ugghhh good thing I got weighed at weight watchers before I went!) We got him 2 Wii games - as both my parents are addicted to the Wii!! Happy Birthday dad - I love you very much!! #3

34/365 Triangles
This is a close up of the New Years Eve 2007-2008 ball that is displayed in the visitors center in Times Square. The crystals changed colors every few seconds from a brilliant pink/purple to red/green and then different patterns also appeared. One thing stayed constant though - the triangles always popped out clearly!

33/365 Mismatched
Who in their right mind would put the Yankee M&M mix next to the Mets mix? I thought this was a better picture for risky but I got out-voted! We went to the M&M store in NYC and if you ever wanted to know what $25 in M&M's looks like - well it's about 3 1/4 filled plastic snack bags! ugghh. What a racket! we could have gone to the corner store and bought 20 1-pound bags for that much - but Nooooo...the kids wanted to pick their own colors. I think this meets the definition of SPOILED!

32/365 Cement
In addition to fixing my kitchen sink yesterday my dad fixed the two broken bricks on my front stoop. I thought I was going to have to put up with it for the rest of the winter but he figured a way to cement them in even with the extreme cold weather. I'll still have to fix some of the cracks and fill in the gaps but that will have to be when the weather gets warmer! So we had a very productive weekend! My sink is fixed, I finished the final caulking today - NO LEAKS!! and you can walk out my front door without falling! Dad's are the best!
